Fit and Fed Foto Week!

Fit and Fed Foto Week – Summer 2024
18th August, 2024
This week we hosted a week-long Fit and Fed Foto Week as part of Plymouth City Council’s initiative to help young people stay active during the summer holidays and to take some of the strain off parents here in Plymouth!
A big thank you to you and all the team. My son has had a brilliant few days and he has come home buzzing every day. Parent of young person on Fit and Fed Foto Week
Thirteen young people, aged nine to fourteen, joined us at Fotonow to take part in a range of photography-themed activities, including learning our digital camera kit, cyanotype printing, photo collage, local trips, and photo walks.
One of the highlights of the week was a photo trip to Mount Edgcumbe Country Park. The group headed across on the Cremyll Ferry and spent the day exploring the beautiful surroundings, capturing some stunning images along the way!

The week was led by Jess Scott, with support from our volunteer Will Thomas, the young people also had input from Matt Ponton, Emma Wright, and Emma Booth over the course of the week. Together, the team aimed to give the participants not only a fun experience but also the chance to develop new skills and boost their confidence in using camera equipment and creative processes.
We loved seeing their creativity come out, whether it was through making prints of their favourite photos from the trips or crafting cyanotype images.

This program really reflects our aims at Fotonow: engaging young people with creative media while offering them a positive, enjoyable environment. By the end of the week, we could see the impact – more confident young creatives, whom we hope will continue exploring photography and visual arts in the future.
In Autumn 2024 we will be restarting our popular UNLOCKED Youth Creative Media Group! To get all the updates please fill out our expression of interest form linked here.
