Maids exhibition launch
It was fantastic to get along to the opening of Fran Rowse exhibition Maids at The Exchange Gallery in Penzance, what a turnout for the First Friday! Maids an ongoing project from Cornish photographer Fran where she highlights the hidden world of girlhood and the reality of Cornish life.
After winning the South West Graduate Photography Prize in 2021 we have supported the development of the project with some finance, thanks to support from The South West Coast Path where Fran continued this body of the work with a focus on the landscape of the coast path.
Fran is also currently building an archive by women for women, challenging traditional Cornish, cultural representation, she is working with women and girls to ensure their voices in history are accurate, feel free to connect with Fran on Instagram
The exhibition is featured on the Ramp Wall within The Exchange and run until the 13th of April to get down to Penzance and take a look. A big thanks to the print department at University of Plymouth for working with us to create Fran’s large format prints.
