South West Graduate Photography Prize 2023 opening night

Saturday (4th November) evening saw the opening of our annual South West Graduate Photography Prize at The Photo Book Cafe in London. It was a busy night with friends, family and the wider creative community coming along to enjoy the opening. The show also features workshops with Fotonow including a Foto Walk in London (Sunday) and a Zine Making workshop (Monday).

This year’s show is featuring the work of Larissa Almeida, Catrin Beynon, Livvy Eden, Tamas Kovács, Oliver Mansell, George Maund, Morton Moss, Weronika Pasadyn and Abigail Tinnion. There is such a diverse approach by everyone this year with many themes explored; traditional documentary projects, visual folklore and story telling and personal explorations of how photography can reconnect us with our roots.

The initiative, aimed at supporting graduates from the region, is now in its 14th year, offers a prize to one of the artists to undertake a residency with us in the months ahead. The winner is picked out by industry professionals and this year we were proud to have; Gideon Mendel, Laura Noble, Richard Cannon and Niall O’Leary among our judges.
