Synopsis: Many young people at St Catherine’s School, Isle of Wight, have communication impairments for life. This film, produced by the young people of Grove Hill FE Centre at St Catherine’s School, explores the challenges they face and the ways in which they overcome them to become independent young adults.

Brief: We ran a series filmmaking and photography workshops with pupils, leading to the production of the film. The work was  part of the Campaign! project. Campaign! was part of Accentuate, the London 2012 Legacy Programme for the South East.

Our Approach: Guided by the staff St Catherines, we developed accessible workshop sessions suited to the specific communication needs of their students. We started by exploring photographic concepts and developed this as a means of visual communication, and then moved on to supporting the students to express their views on
